We offer two types of English classes, available at more than 40 libraries in the Bronx, Manhattan, and Staten Island. These are series-based classes, held year-round in week cycles.
Sincethe English as a Second Language ESL program at Lehman College in the Bronx has offered ESL classes on a full-time or part-time basis to everyone interested in improving their English skills for personal and professional reasons. Classes are affordable, follow a flexible schedule and are taught by dynamic instructors in a student-oriented environment. Perez has a part-time job, but wants to become proficient in English in order to find better employment. The program was taught and developed by Joy Jo, Ed. Several of the students were nuns in the Hermanas Misioneras Servidoras de la Palabra order, who come from Mexico and serve communities throughout the Bronx. At the end of the six-month program, Fordham presented 96 certificates to students who showed a gain on the assessment test and attended at least 85 percent of classes.
